vdoc — Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 10, 2026

Introduction

vdoc ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a browser extension that enables users to copy math formulas from web pages and paste them into Microsoft Word or PowerPoint as native, editable equations. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Data Collection

vdoc does not collect, store, transmit, or share personal data or browsing content.

Specifically, the extension:

How the Extension Works

Formula detection, conversion, and clipboard operations happen locally on your computer. To remain compatible when supported websites change their markup, the extension periodically downloads a small, public compatibility configuration from this project's GitHub Pages site. The configuration only selects and orders formula adapters already bundled with the extension; it contains no executable code.

The configuration request does not include the current page URL, page content, formulas, clipboard content, or personal identifiers. As with any web request, GitHub may receive standard network metadata such as your IP address and browser user agent.

Permissions Explained

The extension requests the following browser permissions:

Third-Party Services

vdoc uses GitHub Pages only to host the public compatibility configuration. It does not use analytics, advertising, telemetry, or other third-party APIs.

Data Retention

No personal data is retained by vdoc. Chrome locally stores your preferences and the last verified compatibility configuration; Chrome removes extension storage when you uninstall the extension.

Children's Privacy

vdoc does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13 or any other age group, as it does not collect any information from anyone.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
